Was doing a ABC routine previously, but since BJJ was taking too much time I've condensed it all to AB (push/pull) with legs thrown in in pull day. I don't see them necessary at all to build a strong back. A lot of these exercises work your core at the same time they target your main muscle. Dr said it's a normal problem - certain kind of coughing spasm can cause hyperrelaxation of the core and when you're still recovering from physical exertion and the brain starves for a moment. What does it for me is the necessary 72 hrs of rest between muscle groups for adequate recovery which emphasises optimal growth.
